What's the talk about?

Plastic bag charges. The plastic island. Fish eating plastic microbeads from cosmetics. The word plastic has become synonymous with pollution and environmental disaster but are they all bad? In this talk, I’ll discuss the challenges faced in replacing plastic, and what we are doing to try to address them.

Dr Seb Spain is a Lecturer in Polymer Chemistry at the University of Sheffield. He is also the "Technological Feasibility" lead for the Plastics: Redefining Single Use project (http://grantham.sheffield.ac.uk/research-projects/redefine-single-use-plastic/).
